Our Newest Addition

Born 11/15/11 at 11:54am 9lbs 6oz

This pregnancy flew by... and I do mean it flew. I guess that's just what happens when you're running a busy family and a daycare. Not complaining, I enjoyed my pregnancy. It was, save for a few kinks, really easy and picture perfect, up until 38 weeks.

After confirming that the baby was, in fact, fairly large, my blood pressures started to go all out of whack and I ended up getting diagnosed, once again, with pre-eclampsia. Paired with the big baby and the stress on my body and the husband's upcoming departure, my mid-wife said it wasn't in my best interest to labor and requested I submit to a repeat c-section. To say I was upset is an understatement, but I agreed and we scheduled the surgery the following week.

At 39 weeks 1 day, Ro-noceros was brought into the world... All 9lb 6 oz of him. He cried right away and it melted my heart and made me cry because I still hadn't seen him yet. After a minute or so, it was evident something wasn't quite right and the voices over by the warming table had gotten awfully quiet. Seems R's nose was flaring oddly and they were concerned about excess fluid, which isn't uncommon for c-section babies. It was enough to send my heart racing, though as I laid there on the table completely helpless when my son needed me.

He was given the all clear and he left with his daddy to go get cleaned up and checked out. I was left behind to get closed up and then I joined my boys in the recovery room. The total time we were apart was less than 1 hour and he was handed over to me as soon as I was transferred to the bed. He latched on the minute I placed him to my breast and my heart just filled with so much joy at this little miracle we'd been blessed with.

He has proven to be a sweet and relaxed baby, thus far. His big sister adores him and his older siblings cannot wait to meet him. We're home and relaxing now and looking forward to each new day.

He is just perfect, Shannon! I'm sorry things did not go as you had worked toward but again I say: he is perfect! You did a wonderful job cooking that little muffin! Congrats to you, Dan and all the kiddos. Lots and LOTS of love! <3
